På Kreta er forskningen i sen-bronzealderens 3. periode (ca. 1400-1050 f. Kr.) relativt ny. Den er blandt andet udsprunget af den heftige debat i 1960'erne om dateringen af Linear B tavlerne fra Knossos. De store mængder materiale - hvoraf meget ikke er publiceret endnu - fra bopladser og grave, rejser mange ubesvarede spørgsmål.

Denne bog er et forsøg på at besvare nogle af disse spørgsmål og indeholder tolv artikler, der hver især behandler et specifikt problem. Hver artikel er rigt illustreret, hovedsageligt med hidtil ikke-udgivet materiale. Samlet giver de tolv artikler mange nye perspektiver i forståelsen af både sen-minoisk keramik og det sen-minoiske Kreta.
